How to change the password
Faculty and staff
Note: Immediately after changing your password, please update all of your mobile devices connected to ESMT email with the new password. Your mobile device’s automatic attempts to connect with an incorrect password, will cause your account to become locked.
Reset Password
If you must reset your password but cannot log into your account to do so, please contact IT Support.
Change while on campus
Method 1 - Windows
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your ESMT computer.
- Select Change a password from the menu.
- Complete the password fields and click the arrow button to save.
Method 2 - Webmail
- Log into webmail.
- Click on the Options menu in the upper right corner of the page.
- Select Change your password...
- Complete the password fields and click Save.
Method 3 - Intranet
- Log into the ESMT Intranet.
- Click the Change password link in the upper right corner of the page.
- Complete the password fields and click Save.
Change while off campus
Method 1 - Windows
If your password has not yet expired, you can connect to VPN and use the Windows method described above.
If your password has already expired, you will not be able to change your password using this method. In this case, please use Webmail or Intranet to change your password.
Method 2 - Webmail
If your password has already expired, you will need to use Webmail or the Intranet to change your password. Note, the Windows login password for your ESMT laptop may not change until your laptop is back on campus. In the meantime, you can continue using your previous expired password to log into your local computer. ESMT central services such as email, elearning, intranet, vpn, and network drives will use your new password.
Method 3 - Intranet
If your password has already expired, you will need to use Webmail or the Intranet to change your password. Note, the Windows login password for your ESMT laptop may not change until your laptop is back on campus. In the meantime, you can continue using your previous expired password to log into your local computer. ESMT central services such as email, elearning, intranet, vpn, and network drives will use your new password.
Students

Please use the "Forgot password" link on the Intranet/eLearning platform login page. After submitting the request form, you will receive an email message with further instructions in the mailbox of the alternative email address that is registered for you in ESMT's contacts database.
Change password
- Log into the ESMT Intranet/eLearning platform.
- Click the Change password link in the upper right corner of the page.
- Complete the password fields and click Save.
Alumni
Note: Immediately after changing your password, please update all of your mobile devices connected to ESMT email with the new password. Your mobile device’s automatic attempts to connect with an incorrect password, will cause your account to become locked. Also note that your Alumni portal password is not synchronized with your ESMT email and elearning account, and, therefore is not affected by the processes described below.
Reset password
Please use the "Forgot password" link on the Intranet/eLearning platform login page. After submitting the request form, you will receive an email message with further instructions in the mailbox of the alternative email address that is registered for you in ESMT's contacts database.
If you receive an error telling you that your username or email address cannot be found, please contact the Alumni Office to confirm that your alternative email address is registered in ESMT's contacts database.
*For Alumni portal password resets, use the "Forgot password" link on the Alumni portal.
Change password
- Log into the ESMT Intranet/eLearning platform.
- Click the Change password link in the upper right corner of the page.
- Complete the password fields and click Save.
*For Alumni portal password changes, use the change password option in the Alumni portal.
Program participants
- Log into the Elearning platform.
- Click on your account name in the upper right corner of the elearning site.
- Select the Profile tab and click the Change password button.
Password complexity requirements (faculty, staff, students, alumni)
Passwords must meet the following requirements.
- Cannot repeat a previously used password.
- Cannot contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed three consecutive characters.
- Must be at least eight characters in length.
- Must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
- Uppercase characters of European languages (A through Z, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
- Lowercase characters of European languages (a through z, sharp-s, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
- Numbers
- Non-alphabetic characters: ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/
Password expiration
Password expiration: 360 days (faculty, staff)
Allowed incorrect password attempts: 6 (account will lock after 6 incorrect attempts)
